A Big Eagle Maze

Fall is just around the corner, and that means time for the Fender’s Farm Corn Maize. Now in its 9th year, this year the maze is paying tribute to the Boy Scouts of America, which celebrates its 100th birthday next year. The maze’s design this year is the logo Boy Scout Eagle, a 7 acre maze with 2 1/2 miles of trails. The maze contains 85 decision points, so like the Boy Scout motto, visitors better “Be Prepared”.
And the maze isn’t the only fun activity on the farm this year. Visitors will get to fire an air-powered “corn cannon”, firing ears of corn into the air. They can also see pig races, or race each other on pedal cars. “We just do things that are farmy,“ says farm owner Caroll Fender, “we don’t really anything that you can go to any other playground and find, you know, we’d just be a duplicate if we did… We came up with a zipline, a 32 foot PVC roller slide, and we did a black mamba swing.“
Local Boy Scouts will have a campout and get first crack at maneuvering the maze before it opens to the public on September 11th.
