Scout Chiristmas Postal Service

 Members of the 2nd Goring and Streatley Scout Group will deliver cards and letters which have been posted in special scout post boxes.

The last collection will take place at noon on Saturday, December 17 and deliveries are restricted to Goring, Streatley, Cleeve, Upper Basildon, Lower Basildon, Aldworth, Moulsford, Cholsey, Aston Tirrold, Blewbury, Wallingford, Benson, Ewelme, Crowmarsh, Pangbourne, South Stoke, North Stoke and Woodcote.

The post boxes are at the following premises: Goring Hardware Shop, Red Cross Road, Goring; Inspirations, The Arcade, High Street, Goring; Westholme Store (Jacks), Wallingford Road, Cleeve, Goring; St Stephen’s Church community centre, Reading Road, Upper Basildon; The Perch and Pike pub, High Street, South Stoke.

The postal charge is a minimum donation of 25p per card or letter that should be deposited in the designated slot in the post boxes. All mail will be stamped with a special scout group franking machine.


Group scout master David Cooksley said: “Usually we make about three deliveries and deliver in the region of 1,500 to 2,000 cards and letters each year.”
