Shining Light across America
In 2007 Scouting Radio reported 24 hours on the Scouting Sunrise. In 2010 a similar event occured in America for BSA's centenial. The Shining Light across America.
With thanks to AT&T sponsoring the event the show was beamed across America with links in 4 different states including Time Square New York.
Hundreds of local councils across America gatheried together in venues large and small to host their own Shining Light activities leading up to the broadcast which was also streamed online.
Bob Mersereau, Chief Scout of Boy Scouts of America abseiled into the Arena and at the end of the show assisted in getting 50,000 Scouts and Scouters to light candles. On the count of 3 the candles were blown out. It was an amazing once in a lifetime event to experience.
