Malcolm Cox - Scouting Radio Isle of Wight

Meet Malcom Cox.

MaC has been involved with Scouting Radio since the Sunrise Ceremony in 2007 on Scouting Radio when we joined him on the Isle of Wight. An ex-Scout Leader, MaC can't take a permanent leader because as a contract Electronic Design Engineer he can suddenly find himself working anywhere in the country, or even as now in Germany. But he still keeps pretty busy with Scouts.

As coordinator of the Isle of Wight Scouting Active Support Project Unit MaC works on fundraising and PR projects, including organising tent salvages after the Isle of Wight Festival and Bestival. Amongst other projects this year, in June MaC and the SAS Project Unit ran a recruiting drive at the Isle of Wight Festival. The project was featured on the Scout website and will appear as an article in the next edition of Scouting magazine.

MaC is helped in all this by his wife Julie, a Guide Trefoil member. He is a registered Guide helper and so they also help with Guide events and with the Isle of Wight Revolution Network and Explorer camp.

MaC and Julie assisted in the setup and take down of the World Scout Jamboree in 2007, where Julie was a member of the International Support Team. They worked on the Essex Jamboree in 2008 and more recently they were on the Infrastructure build team for the Fusion Event at the Girl Guide Centenary Camp. MaC says they enjoy the unbelievable team spirit that builds as the teams get into full swing
