Justin Dawson - Scouting Radio Ireland
Justin Dawson is the Station Manager for Scouting Radio. Justin was born in Dublin in 1983 and has been involved in Scouting since the age of 6 as a Beaver. At 18 he gained his Woodbadge for Scouts and Senior Scouts. At 19 he continued by gaining his Woodbadge for Wolf Cubs.. He was the former Area Commissioner of St Andrews District Baden-Powell Scouts of Ireland and was the Scoutmaster for Troop 44 Dublin.
In 2007 on Brownsea Island, 2 days after the Scouting Sunrise, Justin gained his Medal of Merit for long term commitment to the Scouting Movement.
Justin is currently involved with a Traditional Rover Scout Crew - The Phoenix Rovers who are members of the International Scout Fellowship.
Justin has been involved in Radio since he was 15 years of age. He gained a diploma in Radio and continued his studies to gain a 2:1 honours degree in Media Production and Management from Ballyfermot College of Further Education.
Upon setting up Scouting Radio as a college project Justin was a runner up of 800 entrants in the Oxygen student media awards 2005.
In February 2007, before the stations second anniversary, Scouting Radio was a finalist in the Digital Media Awards. 2008 has seen Scouting Radio pick up their first award making us an award winning Internet Station for Scouting!
He has worked with several radio stations in Ireland and is the director of Xtreme Media.
Justin presents "Scouting Worldwide" on Scouting Radio. The interactive show looks at Scouting in different corners of the globe and talks on their unique Scouting values.
In previous shows of Scouting Worldwide, Justin has spoke to Kevin Bardsley. Kevin Bardsley's son Garrett went missing in the Uinta Mountains on Thursday, August 19, 2004 and has never been found.
