David Schembri

David Schembri (left) is the International Commissioner for Scouts Malta and our Scouting Radio reporter.
David joined the Scout Movement in 1962 as a Cub Scout with the 1st Dortmund Pack,West Germany, where his father was part of the British Army of the Rhine, having to leave the pack a short while later due toy father's military posting to Mulhien.
This was what was seemed to be the end of his scouting until 1994 when he was asked to accept the appointment of the Qrendi Scout Group Council Secretary, at his native village where scouting was reintroduced after an absence of 39years, and where his son was one of the newly invested scouting members.
A short while later, once again David donned the Scout Uniform in order to assist the group as one of its scout leaders.
On the turn of the millennium and in November 2001, David was appointed Qrendi Group Scout Leader, an appointment he still holds.
Taking an active role in scouting at a national level, David was appointed Districts Secretary within the National Association, to be later appointed Human Resources Commissioner in 2002, a position held for two and a half years.
In 2004, David was appointed Assistant International Commissioner and in 2006 International Commissioner, respectively. A position held to date.
